Wow. So time went fast and I haven't blogged for awhile. I might just catch up here in one very long post. So here's what you missed...
Solita's wedding was awesome! It was on Dec 6th and it was great having the McDonald family together for the final wedding of the year. Sol was beautiful and it made me think how grateful I am to be married to Wilson and to be a part of the McDonald family.
Sol's wedding day was also on St. Nick's Day. The McDonald's continue the family tradition of leaving out their shoes for St. Nick to fill with sweets and presents. It was fun to see all the nieces and nephews excited to open these "bonus" Christmas gifts. I want to look into the history behind this holiday, but that will have to be saved for another day.
Christmas was very different for me this year. It was special because it was our first Christmas as a couple (we were only friends before lol), but it was also my first Christmas not being with my family in Idaho. That was hard. Not going to lie. But technology is wonderful! I was able to skype with my family on Christmas morning. So I still got to be a part of the unwrapping and to see their reactions. As a bonus, I also got to see my 14 month old nephew start to figure out how to close the computer and try to turn off skype. My goodness he is a beautiful baby and I am proud to share DNA with that kiddo.
Also on Christmas, I got to try out some of my presents on a winter hike up flat top. Not only did I realize how out of shape I am currently, but I was delightfully surprised to have warm hands and toes. I love my husband! He knew exactly what I needed to make our adventures more comfortable.
On New Year's eve, we chaperoned a stake youth dance. It was our duty to make sure no one was lingering in the parking lot or breaking into cars. It was fun to be "the adults" at the dance and yes I kissed my husband at midnight. The other highlight of the night was the Kleweno's annual New Year's eve party - good friends, good food, fireworks downtown, and mentos and coke!
Now it is the new year! We didn't make resolutions, but we do have some things in mind... 1) Raft the copper river (hopefully over 4th of July). 2) Hike Pioneer Peak in August (this is to scare me into getting my butt in gear with my exercise program. 3) Buy a house (eeek! It's a big scary change, but an important one we are looking forward to. 4) See my family in Idaho at least once, if not twice this year.
And I guess we will see what happens. There are a lot of possibilities this year!
